Have you ever traveled to a place where you can relax to a 100%, feel the white sand between your toes and have no worries?
Well I have traveled a lot, but I had never felt that relaxed as I did in Gili Meno(island in Indonesia).
The plan was to stay in Bali for two weeks, but after a few days of exploring Bali, we wanted to have a more relaxed vacation with amazing beaches and calm environment. Unfortunately we already booked the hotel in Bali for the whole stay, but we wanted to find paradise. After searching online we found a great island that would release all our stress to just enjoy everything, stress free.
We booked a hotel, only 2 stars, and the one we stayed in Bali was 5 stars, but we were not worried since the hotel had great reviews and nice pictures. We also booked boat from Bali to Gili Trawangan, to then find a boat who could take us to paradise, Gili Meno.
When we were boarding the boat that was taking us to Gili Trawangan, they said it would take a few hours there. And since I get seasick a lot, we went to sit outside, on top of the boat. No seats, nothing. There were only about six people up there with us.
To sum up this boat trip, it was quite an experience, haha, after about one hour, the waves got bigger and bigger. We were all wet and i was screaming to hold on and not fall into the water. It was horrible but fun at the same time. And best of all I didn’t get seasick ,haha 😀
We were getting closer to Gili Trawangan, and all you could see were charming boats, absolute incredible turquoise water, and A LOT of people.
After unloading all our bags, we tried to find a boat that could take us to Gili Meno island. After a lot of bargaining with different boat owners, we got a good price. About 30 minutes boat trip, the boat took us to the hotel, Siri Resort Gili Meno(Link to the hotel). Haha, it was so amazing to get the ride exactly to the hotel beach. The boat staff carried our luggage walking from the boat, through the water, to the hotel reception, carrying the bags on top of their heads, to avoid water on our bags.
I already loved the feeling. The incredible water, the white sand, the beach, the simple and elegant hotel in all white, not much people around. WOW!
We got the room keys to our bungalow with ocean view, our expectations were not very high since it was a 2 star hotel.
When we got to the bungalow, we went from the reception, walked through the sand, and to our door. We had a cute little terrass, we went inside, it was small and neat. But everything was so fresh and nice, minimalistic. Kingsize bed, tv, closet between the bathroom and the bedroom. And the bathroom was amazing, just like a spa resort. It all felt very zen like. We loved it!
We changed to bathing clothes and walked a few metres to the beach, and ordered food. The menu was not very long, a few things, like pizza, ceasar salad etc all standard. The prices were a bit more expensive than in Bali, since they only had delivery by boat once a day. But it didn’t matter, the environment was mind-blowing.
This island, didn’t have any cars or motorcycles, just walking or riding horse and carriage.
We walked barefoot, to explore the island, we were surrounded with amazing beaches everywhere. And small hotels, small shops, small restaurants. After walking a while, it was already dark, we stopped at a fish restaurant. They hade candle lights everywhere, and all the tables were private so you could just enjoy the food and the surroundings. And the food was AMAZING! You can’t go wrong with grilled fresh fish, and the prices on these places were cheaper than the hotel.
One thing that I didn’t like was that there were no lights on the roads/sand we walked through to get around the island. So when it went dark, it was pitch black. A lot of hotels offer flashlight, but we didn’t know so we used our phones all the way back. I was quite afraid of the dark, since it was only jungle and beach. I thought a snake or some other animals would appear in front of me or behind me all the time, haha. But nothing happened. Everyone was walking these roads in the dark, to go to other restaurants or shops.
After about two days, we had explored a lot and everything felt so more relaxed, even in the dark. And the sunsets on the beach is incredible!
This is when this paradise made us 100% relaxed with no worries or stress to think about. The perfect getaway if you need it.
We lived the beach life every single day, we played backgammon, snorkling, ate great fresh fish, had coconut drinks. Well yeah, it was AMAZING!
You can do all sorts of things there, relaxing things. Snorkling, just at the beach! Go on fishing trips, yoga, find cosy restaurants etc.
JUST TO RELAX and get some energy to go back to the real world with all stress.
This was the best trip I’ve ever been to! I would really recommend this island if you want to relax and enjoy the surroundings 🙂
Have you been to a trip like this before, and if so, where did you travel? 😍
